Dr. Asaf Dana is an incoming Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. His research focuses on developing soft stimuli-responsive material platforms for applications in soft robotics, tissue engineering, and materials processing, integrating experimental mechanics with materials design and phase-transition physics.
Previously, Dr. Dana was a postdoctoral researcher at Texas A&M University, working with Prof. Taylor H. Ware on soft material platforms. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he studied high-rate actuation modes in shape memory alloys with Prof. Doron Shilo. During his M.Sc., he worked with Prof. Guy Ramon on modeling the relaxation and drainage of fluid-filled elastic networks. He also holds a B.Sc. (Cum Laude) in Environmental Engineering, both from the Technion.
